Events at the City Library

  • A new literature blog called ‘12 Hits’ will be launched online on Library Day, 8 February. The blog will highlight the diversity of literature.
  • The Library Bus will be at Senate Square on Helsinki Day, 12 June.
  • Open House at all libraries on Sunday, 7 October, 12:00–4:00 p.m. (Pikku Huopalahti, Ruoholahti and Sakarinmäki children’s libraries inside schools will be closed).

Kallio Library celebrates its 100th anniversary in September-October

  • Kallio Library 100 Years exhibition
  • Students from Kallio upper secondary school will interview Kallio-based authors on 25–27 September, 2–4 October and 9–10 October.  
    Authors to be interviewed include Katja Kettu, Torsti Lehtinen, Antti Tuomainen, Anja Snellman and Merja Virolainen.
  • There will be exhibitions, lectures and events throughout the year.

Rikhardinkatu Library

  • People’s heart sounds will be recorded from 12 March to 1 April 2012 for Christian Boltanski's world-renowned IHME 2012 project.
  • In April, literary treasures from the Helsinki collection.
  • Children’s Sunday, 2 December, 12:00-16:00.
