An international ice sculpture event in Korkeasaari is looking to make history.

The individual competition to be organised on 4–5 February will challenge artists to produce ice sculptures on the theme ‘200 Years Ago’. The event will continue the following weekend, with two-person teams competing on 11–12 February with the theme ‘Designed by Nature’.

The Korkeasaari ice sculpture event will be organised for the eighth time in 2012. Participants are selected by application and include both Finnish and international artists sculpting ice as well as other materials. A total of 36 sculptures will be produced in the competition.
